Incorporated in 1978, the East Texas Crisis Center has become a safe haven for those impacted by family violence, dating violence, sexual assault and violent crime. 

Our services include helping individuals struggling with mental illness, substance use issues, or intellectual and developmental disabilities. But just as important as what we do is how we do it—with respect, compassion, and a strong belief in every person’s ability to grow and live a meaningful life. 

The Trevor Project is a non-profit suicide prevention organization that provides 24/7 crisis support services, research, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ young people.

Special Health Resources provides affordable, comprehensive healthcare for your entire family. We have convenient locations in Tyler, Longview, Paris and Texarkana, TX. We accept Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance plans. We also offer self-pay fee discounts based on income and household size. 

Understanding your HIV-status allows you to take control of your health and is important for your relationships. If you test negative, you can get more information on different prevention tools, such as PrEP, and if you test positive you can start treatment to manage HIV and help prevent transmission to others.

Project Healthy AIDS Recovery Program was designed to increase social support and treatment among clients suffering from mental health and drug use disorders. For those who are unaware of their HIV & Hep-C status, support groups are available by a certified peer support staff.

Mosaic Counseling Centers of East Texas exist to build a healthier community by uniting mind, body, and spirit through counseling, connection and community, honoring individual beliefs and practices. 

East Texas Cares Resource Center expanded its mission four years ago to provide all marginalized members of our community with social services to help them gain access to programs. Among our services are a food pantry to address food insecurity, long-term housing assistance, as well as short-term housing assistance and emergency assistance. We also provide health insurance assistance which covers the cost of insurance premiums and copays. 

It is the mission of The Arc of Greater East Texas to enhance the general welfare of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, throughout their lifetimes, by providing fully inclusive programs, services, education, advocacy, and compassion for those we serve, and for their families in Smith County and the Greater East Texas Region.

Angel Hands Hospice and Palliative Care is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care that enhances the quality of life for patients and their families. We focus on comfort and dignity: addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and with every day needs or concerns through individualized care plans.

Workforce Solutions East Texas can provide many services to adults with barriers to employment through our WIOA Program. This program allows us to provide job skills for our future job seekers. We can do this by providing paid work experience, on-the-job-training, work readiness courses, and scholarships for school!

Past documentation of Queer life in East Texas has mainly come from outside sources, focused on violence, and has failed to thoroughly capture the history of the area. Because of this, I have started having conversations with local Queers where I collect stories and pictures of their lives here in East Texas, as well as what Queer joy means to them.

For four decades Dallas Voice has been more than just a newspaper; it has been a beacon of hope, a platform for advocacy, and a mirror reflecting the diverse voices of our LGBTQ community. 

The East Texas Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has provided food to over 200 partner agencies and food programs in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. A member of Feeding America, The East Texas Food Bank is one of four food banks that serves the Gulf Coast Region who are pre-staged with food products from Feeding America, to respond to disasters. 

Worthy Ones aims to seek out and find needs unmet for community members that have gone unnoticed and create unique solutions to help our neighbors. This is an organization unlike others; we aim to build personal connections with our community and provide aid.

Pagans in Recovery is a 12-step fellowship based on the example pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous. Our wish is to assure people seeking recovery that they can recover without having to accept anyone else’s beliefs or to deny their own. We welcome those who worship or work with one or more Goddesses, Gods, Spirits, Energies, Powers, or Ancestors, and whose spirituality may include magical practices. SocialWorx Advocacy Group (SWAG)

is a nonprofit organization serving East Texas, committed to removing barriers that prevent communities from accessing the services they need to live and thrive.

AFSP is dedicated to preventing suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people. As a public health organization, AFSP believes that it is our individual and collective responsibility to support the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ people. 

The Association for Family and Community Integrity Inc (AFCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The goals and mission of AFCI are to reduce rejection among LGBTQ youth by educating families and communities.   Ending rejection of LGBTQ+ youth by advocating for them and educating their families, counselors, and educators. 

Reliant Healthcare is a multi-disciplinary pharmacy company with locations in the south. We were founded in 2008 by multiple partners from the healthcare space with a mission to improve the patient experience by providing exceptional personalized service for patients with chronic disease.

The first conversation about One Love Longview began on June 1, 2020, in a time of political unrest & racial division. The original goal was to gather a group of people from diverse backgrounds and bring them all together to perform random acts of kindness and promote positivity. After meeting with local church/non-profit leaders and city officials throughout the community, it became obvious there was a greater need for other resources and the vision expanded.

Strands For Trans is a global network of hair, beauty, and wellness industries and organizations that seek to create and inspire safe and positive experiences for all guests, especially guests from the trans community.

TENT is an organization dedicated to furthering gender-diverse equality in Texas. We work to accomplish this through education and networking in both public and private forums. Through our efforts, we strive to halt discrimination through social, legislative, and corporate education.

Coastal bend pride center 

As the only LGBTQIA+ community center of its kind in the Coastal Bend area, the Coastal Bend PRIDE Center endeavors to create an inclusive, compassionate, and supportive home that celebrates and nurtures our vibrant local LGBTQIA+ population.

Trans Legal Aid Clinic of Texas offers free help for trans and non-binary Texans changing their names and/or gender on legal documents. 

Tyler Transit transformed its existing fixed route service into a MicroTransit service starting Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. All Tyler Transit bus stops are used as pick-up locations for riders. The ride will take them directly to the doorstep of a destination within sight of the closest bus stop on any existing route.  

To meet our patrons’ needs for information, education, and recreation through access to library resources. Tyler Public Library is dedicated to ensuring that all citizens have access to current materials and resources necessary for lifelong enrichment and education, universal literacy, and informed decision-making. 

American Veterans for Equal Rights is the oldest and largest chapter-based, all-volunteer national Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Veterans Service Organization in the United States, and the nation’s only LGBT VSO recognized by the Veterans Administration.  Members of AVER are not lobbyists, staffers, interns, or politicians. 

 The National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging is the first U.S. technical assistance center focused on improving services for LGBTQ+ older adults, their families, and caregivers.

LGBTQ+ youth are three times as likely to struggle with self-esteem and half as likely to receive the support they need. It Gets Better aims to connect with LGBTQ+ youth before they experience crisis, connecting them to community and equipping them with the language, tools and resources they need to better navigate adolescence and their unique sexual orientation and/or gender identity journey. Our preventative efforts to support LGBTQ+ youth have a direct impact on their mental health, academic performance and overall well being. 

CenterLink is a nonprofit organization and member-based association of LGBTQ centers and other LGBTQ organizations serving their local and regional communities. Our mission is to strengthen, support, and connect LGBTQ community centers. We currently have over 375 member LGBTQ centers providing essential services, promoting growth, wellness, and connectivity in their communities.

Out Youth's Texas GSA Network connects and empowers LGBTQIA2+ youth and ally leaders statewide so they can fearlessly be themselves while making schools safer for everyone.

For young people who are out and ready to find an accepting community, college consideration is all the more important. While there’s no “school for gay students,” there are many college campuses that can be far more welcoming than others, with plenty of LGBTQ+ resources and advice already at your disposal. Here are some resources for finding communities that have already been made safer through the efforts of the administration.  

The Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. (“Lambda Legal”) is a national organization working to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV, through impact litigation, education and public policy work. 

As an LGBTQ parent raising a child with special needs, you may face unique challenges. However, by accessing the various forms of help that are available, LGBTQ families can become empowered to understand their child's needs, handle potential discrimination, and navigate their options. In the United States, 4.2 million youth experience homelessness each year, with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. True Colors United is committed to changing that. 

To promote a multinational LGBTQ+ network dedicated to improving health and wellness opportunities, economic empowerment, and equal rights while promoting individual and collective work, responsibility, and self-determination.

More than one third of all LGBTQ+ Americans live in the South. But our community lacks basic legal protections, faces political attacks, and experiences health and income inequities. LGBTQ+ Southerners also live each day with courage and strength and are doing heroic work to promote equality in their hometowns. And every day, we hear powerful stories about how the South is changing.

Our mission is to provide guidance and linkages among stakeholders to build broad access to timely and appropriate behavioral health care services to better attend to the needs of those with mental illness in Smith County.

The Behavioral Health Leadership Team is led by a Steering Committee made up of BHLT co-chairs, Emeritus members, Action Team co-chairs, and the BHLT Coordinator.

Family Circle of Care is a health center that operates seven medical clinics, one dental clinic, and a mobile medical clinic serving the East Texas cities of Tyler, Athens, and Jacksonville and surrounding communities. We provide Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Mental Health Services, Dental Services, and Social Services and Resource Assistance, and have been the leading community health center (also known as a Federally Qualified Health Center or FQHC) in our service area since 2013. 

Bethesda Health Clinic and Pediatrics is here for underserved East Texas families who either lack insurance coverage or are underinsured. We understand the challenges of high deductibles relative to income, and we’re here to bridge the gap.
